Black bean soup.

After an amazing day hiking and snooping around the country on the land of some good friends we planned to share an old fashioned dinner of black beans.
I was craving beets (not to eat but to dye linen with) so we stopped for them and headed home.
I could not help but use these luvvly specimens for our table decor. Now I can't cook them to make beet ink dye for awhile because I have fallen in love with them.

Luvvly hubby created this fab soup. What a smashing Monday for sure!

Hello Jubblers,
I am trying to spend more time in nature with friends and family and less time with T.V. and my scissors.
It has been a nice break. 
When I am deep in a project that requires scissors for paper, fabric, embroidery, tin foil etc I tend to use the same scissor out of laziness.
My favorite flea market man (STD Flea Market) gave me a bag of small boullion jars with yellow and blue plastic lids.... (he knows I am a green designer...who else would want these?). I put the plastic lids in my home schooler's Tuesday night art class box to use for mixing paint.
The jars I used .......luvvly jubbly...one of my top 10 loves.....rubber bands to secure them together. I popped my scissors in and can grab the appropriate pair when I am in a creating frenzy.
This method would also be fab for storing paint brushes or pencils.

Today was brighter, warmer and luvvly jubbly out.
I took a hammer to a small mirror (wrapped in an old towel) to create my new house numbers piece.
I have a weakness for numbers in front of the home. I change them O F T E N.
The mirror chips reflect and sparkle....more visable from the street.

A snowy day is perfect for girl besties and cupcakes.

I got up early this morning to do a test bake of cupcakes for my afternoon girl power party at my house.


I found my recipe on one of my favorite blogs A BEAUTIFUL MESS.  Elsie Larson is a rock star. I am proud to live in the same town with her and be able to visit her LUVVLY shop, RED VELVET. If you don't know about her, you will find her all over the world, in your favorite magazines, everywhere!

These are Elsie's L U V V L Y cupcakes that she sells in her shop and blogs about to help us make them.
They are POSH!!

I am not at home in the kitchen but I make it fun by finding little things that help me relax.


1. I use Brook's silver baby cup (22 years old) as my flour scoop.
2. I store my flour in a brown paper bag.
3 I don't use measuring spoons. My vintage small and bigger spoons are close enough to tea spoons and table spoons.

I like to mix it up with different homes for the cupcake batter.


1. NYT.
2. Maps.
3. Brown paper bag.
4. Pink handmade paper.
5. Fruit jar.


Always line the foreign papers with healthy baking parchment.

Spray with Pam.

The one I selected as my fav for today's party......the fruit jar!
Scoop out the rounded top of the jar cake.

After I bake my cake jars and let them cool I will scoop out, top with organic yogurt and fresh blueberries.


I love having besties over on a snowy day.

Using leftovers for your face.

What is your face hungry for today?

Today (Jan 12, 2012) is a snowy and blooming frigid day.
My skin is hungry/thirsty for moisture.


I stirred up a recipe in a luvvly teeny Carmex tub for a facial treat.

You might call this the slum gullian recipe.
I dug through my brown paper bag of stuff and pulled out Emu oil, vitamin C concentrate (I don't remember where this came from) Garnier dark spot corrector and Carmex with sunscreen from the tube.

A couple of pumps...easy peasy.

A few drops of Emu Oil.

A little squeeze of green tube (Garnier spot corrector).

Last...VERY IMPORTANT for the recipe...Carmex (SPF 15) from the tube.




Stir with your finger and apply to your face throat, shoulders and hands. 
Each day your skin will ask for something different.
My skin feels smashing!!!

Parachute curtains in 10 minutes or less.

S U N N Y at my work station.
I love sunny rooms but not blinding light.
Winter sun brings light in my face that was just too much.
I robbed pieces from my parachute window covers in my workroom.

I love a NO CURTAIN window but put this system up this morning in about 10 minutes.

Using a fairly heavy gage wire (no needle needed) I threaded it thru the top frayed edge of the fabric.
Next step is securing the wire ends on left and right side of the window frame. I uses a staple gun (much to my luvvly hubby's dismay).

This view is over my kitchen sink.
Don't feel like the curtain needs to be the entire width of your window. It needs to be wide enough to provide sun protection and privacy if you need it.
I think this smashing window treatment would be perfect for a dorm window or a room divider.
